White collar crime is in your back yard you just don’t know it yet

Have you ever gone into a convenience store, bought something for, say four dollars, hand the clerk a twenty and then proceeds to give you six dollars back? In singles? That happened to me, I started putting the money away all the time wondering…I ask “Didn’t I give you a twenty?” “Oh, sorry ma’am” and looks into the cash drawer, astonished as if she cannot believe she made such a stupid mistake and hands me an additional ten dollar bill!!! I walk away muttering something like “You b****!” and the same time thinking “Clever, clevvvver!”
Well that just happened again only this time it was my credit card company. I received my monthly statement last month and perusing down I notice (among the 25 or so charges) late fee OF $39. Well I know I made my payment on time so I proceed to call customer (NON) service (NON) care. “Please enter your Account number…please enter your zip code..you entered “blah,blah,blah,….”Is this correct?..Pres star for…..Well after five minutes of this gymnastics and pressing “0″ where “all of our customer (NON) care people are “assisting other customers’ I get a nice lady who agrees “I SHOULDN’T HAVE BEEN CHARGED…IT WAS A MISTAKE…AND I WILL GLADLY REMOVE the late fee!! Well “THANK YOUUUUU!” As I thank her and as I hang up the phone I again mutter and again think “Clever,clevvvverrrrr!”
Well, just HOW PREVALENT IS THIS??? Could this be happening throughout this country in multitudes??…These “INNOCENT” mistakes. And who’s PROFITING from this???
Several months back a local DJ here had a problem with his health insurance company. To keep the story short he cited TWO instances where his medical charges were supposed to be covered (paid for at least partially) and were NOT. Each time he called his insurance company (More dialing gymnastics) and each time they admitted it was a mistake and reversed their decision and paid WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
Several of the callers chimed in with their own SIMILAR stories. But ONE CALLER who worked for a health insurance company stated where she worked there was an OFFICE POOL and if You SUCCEED in denying charges THERE IS AN OFFICE REWARD for that DAY!!!!
An awful lot of “INNOCENT MISTAKES” my friends!!!!

Oh yeah, I’m very familiar with this kind of crap. Our insurance Blue Cross Blue Shield makes you get an ok from them before they will do anything. Then 3 or 4 months down the road, they kick the claim out and refuse to pay it. I’ve yet to figure that one out. They have shafted us so many times my husband should be on first name basis with the entire work force. He spends his day off (Wednesdays) talking to BCBS from about 9am to 12am, and it’s always the same thing over and over and over. They lip service him to death, and the next bill comes in has the same refusal to pay!!
