Reason I hate freecycle
|
I can’t stand the rule about watching out for resellers. I mean if people are willing to give the stuff away for free (almost like throwing it the trash) why is it that they are warning people about this. I sell on ebay and heard that freecycle was a good place to get things to sell, but have not even bothered to use it because of this. It really turned me off. I mean what does anyone care what other’s do with their stuff anyways?

Agreed!
And for some good rants about FreeCycle, see IHateFreeCycle.com.
Freecycle sucks ass. They are a bunch of arrogant hipppies. Go ahead and join your local group and get stuff and sell it. How the hell are they going to know????
I hate whiners and moochers on Freecycle. I hate resellers too. It’s simply unethical. People who offer stuff in Freecycle do so to help people who are in need. If you are a reseller, then you are a business. You do not need a toaster as much as a person who really doesn’t have a toaster. That’s what makes it unethical. You are depriving people who are really in need, unless the “offerer” is astute enough to know what you are.
In case you still don’t see why being a reseller on Freecycle is unethical: that’s like going to the Salvation Army to get a food hamper and then selling it.
Agreed that is lame. You are worse then goodwill. At least at goodwill, they will resell items for super cheap.
I couldn’t disagree more about reselling. If you look over the main freecycle.org site there is NOTHING about the purpose of freecycle being to help people in need. It is to keep stuff out of landfills. If it happens to help people in need, fine. If you want to select who gets your stuff and you want to avoid someone who is a reseller, that’s your perogative. But check the rules - it only says you can’t buy/sell stuff on freecycle. It does says items must be free with no strings attached.
Besides, that toaster may do a needy person more good as a saleable item than as a toaster.
