Only the Homeless and Blind Need Apply
|
Have you noticed lately the trend for advocacy groups to employ those for whom they advocate? Isn’t that nice of them? For example, I hear on the radio all the time about “homeless advocates”.
What? You mean, they aren’t homeless? You mean that they are advocates for the homeless? But that’s not what they said. They said that they are “homeless advocates”.
Similarly, in the news today I read that a “blind advocacy group filed a class action lawsuit this week against Target.”
To what is the group blind? (Other than, clearly, proper use of the language.)
If they meant that it was a group which advocates for the blind, why didn’t they say so?
Sadly, they thought that they did.
This trend is just more evidence of the dumbing down of America..but hey..that’s another rant…

You’re funny, right but funny. We have dummy-downed, and for years. It’s much worse for our children today. Our children go to babysitters, not institutions of learning anymore. I think it’s going to get worse with the no-child left behind philosophy that Dubba’s spouting. We keep lowering the standards of education, and allowing those with the bucks to get into college even if they are as ignorant as a post. Our son put himself through college on grants and loans that he’ll be paying off for the next 25 years or so. If his schooling had been free, I imagine he would be able to support his old mom. O.K. maybe not that, but perhaps have a decent car and place to live that he can call his own. Maybe take a vacation every year like everyone who works deserves. But then again, I’m a fatalist…..it’s all just gonna blow from hear on out anyway.
