Of Restaurants and The time space continuum…

Greetings to all that have no concept of time in regards to late night jaunts to the local burger joint. Yup you guessed it, I work for a semi-fast food restaurant. There is one thing that just rubs me more raw than sandpaper on a sunburned crotch ever could. One thing that I have noticed when it comes to the ability to tell time accurately around a restaurant’s closing time is IT DOESN’T EXIST. What part of “We close at 10:00 pm” do those morons not understand? What part of human nature causes one to make a mad dash to the local burger joint with two minutes to spare, breaking several land speed records, not to mention local speed limits? When you realize that a restaurant closes at 10:00 why must you screech into the drive thru lane with seconds to spare? Don’t you realize that people that have chosen to work for that establishment have families and homes to get home to. If you continue to drive in WE CANNOT LEAVE!! It is not our hearts desire to spend thirty minutes past our posted closing time catering to your every little whim. Get a life, get your food earlier, or go to Wally World…..theyre open 24 hours!!!!

When I screech in to my local burger joint drive thru at 10:05 pm I want food…Food…FOOD!!!! I…WANT…MY…FOOD!!!! And, I want it slow cooked over a semi-medium flame to quasi-medium rare and I want my buns toasted to slightly tan, no more; I want two sweet and one dill pickle topped with 2.35 drops of mustard; I want it NOW and I want it delivered within 30 minutes or it’s free! And if the people with families to get home to don’t like doing it they can work at Wally World!

Hey Mad burger guy, I get what your saying. Though I never had the pleasure of a working for a fast food Establishment, I did spend some 23 years in the restaurant business, and closing time means no food after the applicable hour, as the crew will still require an additional hour to clean up the joint and get it ready for the next day’s crew. Insensitivity to world you live in does not surprise me in the least. Most individuals that seek immediate acknowledgment at 9:59, are selfish by their own right, not having worked for a living in a fast food restaurant, or any position that requires taking themselves to a level to be employed and have a weekly paycheck. Dana needs a 2.35 drop of empathy!

By her own admission, Dana needs her buns toasted to slightly tan.
Perhaps a sub-conscious desire for a little spanking to punish her
    insensitive and self-obsessed comment?

I have a feeling what *could* happen to the Dana’s food if Dana expresses that kind of attitude at a restaurant….remember, I said *could*…not *would*. So Dana, just be careful with the attitude….sorry, but I’m not meaning to SPIT on you…hint, hint.

I have empathy for you….honest…because I worked for a business in the past that also had a set closing time. It was back in high school when I had my first job. 20 years later, I still carry that same lesson around with me about ‘closing time’ and what it means to everyone working in the building. Unfortunatley, too many other people are either spoon fed or have zero manners and don’t know what it’s like to hold a job with late hours.
But I do remember from 20 years back, that ‘closing time’ meant the doors were locked at that time. Anyone inside that still needed service, got it with a smile. Did I think the two minutes before ‘closing time’ customer was a pain in the butt? Absolutely. And this is why I can empathize with your situation.
