Global warming sceptics

Poo to the poo poo-ers of global warming… I’ve been a spotter of snakes for many years, and this year there is a plethora of healthy, well developed breading snakes at least 2 months earlier than one would have seen 5 years ago and this is the result of climate trend, not just local anomalies.

Sorry, but five years of one individual’s observations is not sufficient to extrapolate a long term trend. I don’t doubt your observations. In fact, I think your spotting abilities are probably improving. That would be a much more likely cause of you seeing the snakes 2 months earlier.
But regardless of whether your abilities have improved, it is wild extrapolations like this that taint whatever real global warming data might actually be out there.
Still, I shouldn’t be so hard on you. You are at least trying to make observations and quantify them. The problem with this whole global warming controversy (at least the human-generated part of it) is that it has become a religious issue and no longer a scientific one.
Finally, realize that some of us wouldn’t be shocked if the Earth is warming - it has gone through many warming and cooling cycles before. We just doubt that humans are having any significant effect.
Of course we should all conserve gasoline, but not because of supposed global warming. We should conserve because it is a limited resource and to help reduce air pollution (real pollution, not carbon dioxide).

Just because you see a lot of snakes does not mean there is no problems with the Earth. Have you turned on a TV lately? And the mere fact that snakes are coming out sooner should be a tiny hint to you that global warming is occuring. Snakes and all types of nature should be doing things at the right time. If they are showing up early then yes, that is due to global warming.

Deb, did you READ the original rant? Kaptinlollypop is saying that the snakes ARE evidence of global warming. You seem to have misinterpreted–although how, I don’t know–his rant to be saying there is no global warming. He is saying that there is.
