The middle class is gone. Global warming is a death sentence. The White House is full of criminals who a least should be thrown out of there and impeached and probably FAR worse justice should be applied to them. We need a statesman-like visionary to guide us through this and we need them as of September 2001 or before then and will we be able to survive an administration so vile as to wreck the environment, the military, our standing and reputation in the world and send 3,500 of our children to their graves, torture with impunity, rendition maybe innocents (more...)

Do not believe for one minute that when former President Jimmy Carter uttered the words that George W. Bush is the worst president in our history that it was a mere slip of the tongue. It was not. For Jimmy Carter has forever aligned himself with the dictators and despots of the planet. As such he is their mouthpiece, their megaphone to international legitimacy. Four U.S. Citizen Children Deported Because of Lawyer’s Misdeeds

You know, 98% of the lawyers out there... make the rest of us look really, really bad! Here's just one more example - a heart-wrenching one. A couple in Palo Alto, California - Isabel Aguirre and her husband Pedro Ramirez - a couple who had lived there for more than 20 years - having moved from their native Mexico in 1985, were deported following a Federal raid. Because of this, their four children, all U.S. citizens, were faced with being deported with their parents, or going into foster care. The kicker? Unless you've been locked in a small dark room without electricity this weekend, you will almost certainly have heard news concerning our fearless and combative Vice President, one Richard Cheney - though he prefers to be known as a real Dick - and his 'accidental' shooting of a member of his hunting party. I originally drafted this rant a few years ago, but as we head into another presidential election round, it seems nothing has gotten any better: Listening today to the candidates for the upcoming presidential election, George W. Bush and John Kerry, each driveling their lackluster verbal pablum, it suddenly hit me as to just why our choices for President have been increasingly disheartening, disillusioning, and demoralizing. We’re raising a nation of intellectual pygmies. People no longer choose the best candidate - they choose the least bad candidate. Just thinking that it would be nice to have a rule out there where, if someone starts kvetching, they would be required to either: a) Come up with a workable solution to the problem (emphasis on workable; fairy godmothers or The Hand Of JHVH or 'get a dictatorship of the proletariat' don't count unless they detail exactly how such a thing is to be accomplished); b) Admit that they don't have a workable solution to the problem; or c) Shut the fuck up. I don't know if this is a rant, but here it comes: It's been my experience that the liberals I know are, for the most part, very responsible people. What I don't understand is why these folks don't require that same personal responsibility from the "downtrodden." It seems they want the government to do everything for those less fortunate than themselves. Is that because they are trying to alleviate some kind of guilt feelings, or do they believe that everyone else is not as capable as them and therefore needs a helping hand? Now you should realise that I'm just a humble engineer-turned-product-manager type, and I'm usually too busy wrestling with graph theory, sparse matrix computation or the state of my bowels to worry about matters of national and international significance. But the situation in Iran has had me terribly concerned and I've found myself in idle moments (well, the precious few I have), spinning a pencil around my fingers and wondering what we can do to maintain the nuclear non-proliferation treaty intact and, while still letting - indeed assisting if necessary - Iran to have peaceful access to nuclear power generation. A few weeks ago I happened to wander into a Starbucks (California Avenue, Palo Alto, if you're keeping track). I know, I know, that's hardly an event of earth-shattering improbability, because if you're anywhere in the world where there's electricity and internal plumbing, you're scarcely more than 5 steps from a store. Anyway, I digress. While stirring the honey into my tea (it's only in private I stir the tea into my honey), I picked up the comics section of the local newspaper, the San Jose Mercury News. ... In other news, objectionable depictions of Christ is considered free speech! Below is a copy of the email I sent to CNN about the 12 Danish cartoons that is pissing every radical Muslim off right now. ********** I am shocked that CNN would refuse to show the caricatures of the Islamic profit Mohammed out of respect for Muslims. Anytime a derogatory picture of Christ or Christianity is shown it is because of free speech. Why the dichotomy? I do not understand how anyone around my age (the oft-grouped 18-24-year-olds), especially those who attend a place of higher learning, can support the Republican party. Does not the nature of youth itself contradict the basic tenants of the GOP? How can someone at the age of twenty decide that he or she sympathizes most readily with a political party built upon the tenants of empowering the wealthy to abuse the working class, revert rather than progress civil liberties, and support the proliferation of war over peace? What's wrong with youth today?? No matter where you stand on the issue of Iraq - and I'm not saying where I stand on it, as it's not germane to the issue at hand - you have to admit that there are a lot of people who are strongly opposed to our involvement with the war in Iraq. In particular, there are a lot of young adults - or even not so young adults - adults between the ages of say 18 and 30, who are very opposed to the Iraq war. So where the hell are they all? Two Muslim brothers from Brooklyn, Yasser and Hany Ibrahim, who were detained immediately following 9/11, then deported to Egypt on immigration violations and never charged with anything related to terrorism, are back in the states this week, in 24-hour Federal Marshall custody. Why? Yasser and Hany Ibrahim are here to give evidence in their lawsuit against the U.S. government. According to the lawsuit, Hany and Yasser Ibrahim, along with several other detainees, were detained, abused, and denied due process solely on the basis of their religion and national origin, which ordinarily would violate the constitutional prohibition against, well, (more...)
