So, why is it that those with minimal capabilities to see the big picture in sharp focus, and with minimal competancy as managers seem to be the very people who are running things? And why, as things become more and more like the Dilbert comic strip, does senior management add ever more analysts - financial and otherwise, while not addressing the fact that efficiency originates with those in the trenches, those who actually do the work, make the objects, sell the gizmo or provide the service? No matter how they theorize or layer on the consultants, success, in terms of cost efficiencies, excellence of products or services delivered and yes , profit, doesn’t trickle from the top down.
