A Rant About Operation Amber

This is a rant which has been a long time in coming.
That’s because I see it nearly every day. You see, I subscribe to the Operation Amber mailing list, and so I see each and every one of the Amber Alerts which go out.
That’s pretty amazing to think about, isn’t it? That there are Amber Alerts every single day.
And that’s the issue. And that’s what this rant is about.
Perhaps even the average citizen could notice it, but being a former father’s rights attorney, I particularly recognize it.
The vast majority..I mean the VAST majority of “abductions” being announced by Amber Alerts aren’t even “abductions” at all. Not in the sense that most people think. Heck, not in the sense that most people assume when they see those Amber Alerts.
No.
The vast vast majority of Amber Alerts are about..wait for it… custody and visitation. And the children are in no danger whatsoever, at all.
Yep. Another example of a custodial parent working the system to their advantage, and making the non-custodial parent out to be a lowlife goodfornothing..in this case..criminal child abductor.
And another example of some power-grabbing custodial parent deflecting resources away from children and families who really need them just because they can. Just to show the non-custodial parent who’s boss.
As if they need to be shown that.

Check out this “not an Amber Alert” from an Amber Alert website - in a rare case where the police actually declined to issue an Amber Alert for a domestic dispute (way to go, Mountain View, California), Operation Amber took the police department to task, and posted a web alert anyways:
Americas Amber Alert News Center (California USA NA) TAA — Mountain View police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 3-year-old boy believed to have been abducted by his father.
Salvador Garrido called the boy’s mother telling her he would not be returning the child to her Sunday as promised. He said he was in Mexico or on his way there with the boy, Gianmarco Garrido.
Gianmarco had been visiting with his father since Saturday with the permission of the mother, who has full legal custody of the child. Amber Alert was denied due to the lack of danger believed to exist by the Police.
This appears to be interference with child custody and international parental kidnapping. This should warrant Amber Alert due to the fact the father is about to endanger the child by making an illegal crossing into Mexico.
Crossing the border is considered a hazard event to adults by both governments. Allowing the father to not get DOT signs while he evades capture is wrong and violated the childs human rights. Gianmarco and his father may be traveling in a car similar to a black ‘93 or ‘94 Nissan two-door 280Z or 300.
Gianmarco is 3 years old, 3 feet tall and weighs about 30 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Salvador Garrido, who also goes by Sanchez or Marin, is 30 years old, stands 5 feet 5 inches, weighs 140 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
Mountain View police turned the case over to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office this morning. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Salvador Garrido and his son is asked to contact Mountain View police at (650) 093-6395 or Deputy DA Julianne Sylva at (408) 792-2523.”

Oh puhlease. It’s a custody dispute. Yes, the father shouldn’t have taken the child out of the states. But the child is not with some stranger who has taken the child for evil purposes. The child isn’t even with someone who has taken them for evil purposes at all. The child is with..wait for it…
…one of their parents.
The vast majority of child “abductions” are, in fact, simply custody disputes. They belong in the courts. Not using up the resources and detracting attention away from, and desensitizing people to the plight of, those who really need them - children whom are in fact abducted by strangers or others who pose a serious threat. Though relatively rare, it is these children for whom a national Amber Alert should be issued, not those who are with one of their parents who decided to keep them a little too long during their visitation, or who are challenging the custody of the other parent.

Funny you mention it, because whenever I hear an Amber alert with the last names being the same, or some other instance where it obviously a parent, I tend to go back to whatever it is that I am doing at the time. If I hear an Amber alert otherwise I am immediately affected and will keep my eyes peeled for the car that is described. It is almost an unconcious thought.

Tough call. Can’t say a parent wouldn’t ‘kidnap’ their own kid for nefarious reasons, but according to statistics the odds are low. The problem lies with those who are usually making a hysterical call to authorities, pushing the right buttons, and getting the situation listed as an Amber alert. One thing I feel safe in saying, the odds of finding that child are far greater than no word being put out at all. If looking for a license plate, on a certain color of a car is all that’s being asked of me to help a child while I’m out and about, I’m doing it. When it comes to the protection of children we’re either all protectors, or we’re part of the problem.

Now see, here, on February 23rd, is a *perfect* example…here’s the Amber Alert which went out this morning:
Amber Alert for 4 Year Old Illinois Girl
Cassandra M Mcnear, a white female, 4 years old, 3 feet, 42 pounds with brown hair, and brown eyes. She was wearing pink/red top with heart in middle, pink pants, white Nike tennis shoes, and pink coat with cat pictures.
The suspect is Adam L Mcnear.
The suspect vehicle is a silver 2003 Mitsubishi Galant with Illinois tag number 7287963.
They may be enroute to Highland, California.
Anyone with information should call the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department at 217-753-6666 or dial 911.

The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois State Police canceled the Amber Alert after it was determined that the suspect, the child’s father, does have custodial rights. On Thursday afternoon the father went to the San Bernardino California Sheriff’s office and presented paperwork showing that he does have custodial rights to the child. No criminal charges are pending at this time.

I have information to prove that Adam Mcnear is a pervert, child molester, a 2 time felon and a looser that got off on a technicality. This isn’t justice or a perfect example in the least I know first hand he cannot be rehabillitated, I was his girlfriend and I tried.

Two detectives are looking for Adam Mcnear and his ex-wife Maggie as we speak.
Adam has used a dead man’s Id and commited a crime in San Bernadino CA and has been
arrested under the name of Daniel Pagan. Cassie’s mother Maggie is an illegal
immigrant who has been put in prision for a year and deported for bank fraud. Adam
and Maggie have been in prison the entire time Cassie has been alive and she is in grave
danger in these people’s care. Adam is a crack and a meth head and so is Maggie. While
Maggie was in prison, Adam divorced her and married her sister for $3,000 dollars so she
could become a US citizen. The day before Adam kidnapped Cassie he stole all my money and
my ID’s. On thanksgiving of 2005 he left Cassie in his running car while he robbed his
downstairs neighbors house. I know because I pulled up during this event and got scared
left. He cannot be rehabilitated, I know because I tried to help him. He was arrested
Christmas for hitting his downstairs neighbor in the head with a shovel, mind you
this is an old man he victimized. Adam was in prison for 3yrs for commiting armed robbery
and for robbing an old lady. I also have caught him rubbing Cassie’s buttock and sleeping
naked with her on his chest. This is a dangerous pervert who got away with a tecnicality.
I’m sure Cassie isn’t in school and I doubt she is even alive still. If she is, its only
a matter of time. He leaves her home all alone while he goes to buy guns and crack in the
getto and never makes her wear a seat belt. If you need any information feel free to call

police and courts need to study all parties before putting out an amber alert. sometimes
its to party with custody papers that shouldn’t have custody!

for anyone that cannot recognize the attempts by amy vonlanken as the pathetic rantings
of a woman scorn is no better than she is. as for the proof she say’s she has, lets see it. she has none. what
she has is a self inflated sense of ego, a god like complex. these are all signs of
bi-polar, manic depression. that is why she is writing this. i know this because my name is
adam mcnear. i left her behind in illinois because i could not handle the crazy bitch.
where is your kid, amy. in the custody of your parents because you are to crazy to take
care of him. for everyone else, i beat my ex wife for custody, i left illinois because
my parents didn’t think a single father should raise a kid, so they tried taking her from
me. no way in hell would i allow them to get her so she could got through the same emotional
and physical abuse they put me through. cassie is my world and anyone that thinks i would abuse could go to hell. and if anyone ever tried to hurt her, they had better watch out. that is
all i have to say. i will never post anything on this site pertaining to my child ever
again. hopefully everyone else out there could do the same and leave a father to raise
his child the best he can.

I would just like to add my parents have NEVER had Custody of my kid. Adam Mcnear is just saying this cuz his parents DID have custody of his kid for like 4yrs. how jealous are u Adam!!! They had custody of cassie cuz he and cassie’s mother were BOTH in PRISION. haaa haaa how did u like it there?? maybe, u will go back now for slandar and liable and defemation of MY character. not urs just wanted to explain that to you cuz ur character is already in the trash can where it belongs. hehehe keep being jealous it won’t help u at all in life looooser

Ahh… women leave this poor man alone.. Adam was one of my good friends from back in the day and i think you all are over exaggerating about the point of this.. he is a kind man and to tear up his character online is lame.. and pathetic i mean do you have anything other to do but to trash this man.. surly he loves his daughter.. most men dont.. sure hes had his down times.. we all have.. your not special either..or priviledged. so why not just drop it.. whats done is done . he didnt hurt anyone did he..??? he is a good person. and i will defend him from some one who tells fake lies..Werd.>
